“GO TO TRAVEL”

“Go to Travel” is a government project in which the government supports half the total price of domestic travel that accompanies accommodation or day trips. 70% of the benefits will be given as a discount on the travel price, and 30% as a regional coupon that can be used at the stores or restaurants in the  travel destination. The aim is to bring a ripple effect on the local economy by regaining the flow of tourists which was lost due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection and encouraging visits to tourist destinations. It was suspended at the end of last year due to the worsening spread of the infection, but the government plans to resume it around February next year.

「Go to トラベル」とは、宿泊を伴う、または日帰りの国内旅行の代金総額の１／２相当額を国が支援する政府の事業です。給付額の内、７０％は旅行代金の割引に、３０％は旅行先で使える地域共通クーポンとして付与されます。新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大の影響により失われた観光客の流れを取り戻し、観光地の消費を促すことで、地域経済への波及効果をもたらすことを目的としています。昨年末に感染拡大が悪化したことで中断していましたが、政府は来年２月頃の再開を計画しています。

最新のニュースによると、Go to トラベル事業は１月中旬に再開予定で調整が進められているようです。１泊あたりの旅行代金の割引率は従来の３５％から３０％へ、上限は１万４千円から１万円に引き下げられ、クーポン券は平日３０００円、休日１０００円の定額制になる方向で検討中です。GWは対象外として、GW以降は補助率を下げつつ夏休み前に終了予定のようすです。
